Educational Consulting

Programs range from wilderness/outdoor educational programs, regular boarding schools to therapeutic boarding schools, young adult programs, and residential treatment centers. Educationally the approaches are varied and designed to reach many different learning styles and reach every child. There are schools equipped to deal with learning disabilities, behavioral problems, substance abuse, and severe emotional disorders.

Wilderness/Outdoor Educational Programs

These programs are often used as the initial intervention in a plan to assist a family with an adolescent involved in negative and self-destructive behaviors. The programs typically run about four to eight weeks long and begin the process for the student in gaining insight into their negative behavior patterns. Counselors and therapists guide teens toward self-respect and self-reliance. Common issues are poor school performance, defiance of authority, depression, low self-esteem, and drug or alcohol abuse.

Therapeutic Boarding Schools

Therapeutic Boarding schools (commonly known as Emotional Growth schools) are for students who are not successfully functioning in a traditional environment. These schools provide students with the necessary structure and time to internalize positive change. The process facilitates personal growth, and healthy self-expression, inspires academic excellence, and teaches individual responsibility and service to others. The duration of the school can run anywhere from 6-30 months.

Residential Treatment Centers

Residential treatment centers are for young people who have engaged in unsafe behaviors. These students generally require a complete evaluation, diagnosis and treatment. These centers are the most clinically sophisticated in the spectrum of programs. The adolescent's treatment is individually planned and monitored and intensive individual and family therapy is a standard protocol. More specialized and targeted issues are addressed. The schools are usually locked to keep the child safe. Admissions are rolling and the length of stay, while flexible, is on average from four to nine months. In general, the adolescent's academic and emotional condition is not a barrier to entry.

Young Adult Programs

Young adult programs are designed to assist in developing self-reliance, healthy behaviors, personal responsibility, sobriety and goal setting. Depending on the program, most young adults can earn a GED or high school diploma. College courses through local community colleges are also provided. Young adults are assisted in obtaining employment and developing personal financial management skills.
